About this Program:
With Mindfulness Meditation we learn to quiet and focus the mind by observing our moment-to-moment experience with an open, nonjudgmental acceptance. Mindfulness practice creates a balance and inner harmony that can greatly reduce the emotional and physical impact and depletion that often result from prolonged exposure to stressful situations.
Mindfulness Meditation is a 2,500-year-old practice that was introduced into the arena of modern medicine by Jon Kabat-Zinn and others over the past 25 years. Empirical research has demonstrated significant benefits of mindfulness-based interventions in the treatment and prevention of disorders ranging from anxiety and depression to cancer and heart disease. A regular meditation practice offers powerful support for healthcare professionals seeking to avoid burnout. Learning to balance the emotional demands of a healing relationship with personal and professional pressures is vital to a caregiver’s longevity, effectiveness, overall health and wellbeing.
Through a combination of seven hours of in-class interactive and experiential activities and four hours of Home Study test-validated reading assignments, you will learn about:
· helping your clients cope more effectively with stress-related illness
· the powerful influence of mindfulness training on the mind and body
· shifting your focus from pathology to wellness and growth
· creating resonance and heartfelt connection with your clients
· feeling more alert, alive and relaxed in your professional and personal life
· cultivating a high-level of wellbeing using mindfulness practices
