An interest that my wife Jordan and I have pursued for some time is that of experiencing wild and sacred places. Over the years, we have been blessed to spend time in some very special places that naturally support a deep mindful presence, a relaxed body and an open heart. Our time in these places have been very helpful in our own inner work and Spiritual growth. A part of our future plan is to share some of these places with small groups of friends who are traveling a non-dual Spiritual path of some kind.

Along with many other opportunities for growth, our time in Peru and our Peace Corps work are clearly preparing us for this new endevor. We are learning a lot and the more we learn, the more excited we are to share these experiences. We look forward to seeing what the future holds for us and to meeting new Spiritual friends along the way. Our focus at this point is exploring and experiencing all we can in Peru and beginning in 2009, in Africa. Below are some photos from some of our earlier experiences.

A great spot for a dip, a beautiful little lake hidden in the mountains surrounding Lake Tahoe, NV/CA. This 2006 trip offered many peaceful moments and chances to cultivate a deep inner stillness.
The scenery at Yosemite National Park can bring anyone into the present moment and into a state of wonder. This Fall 2005 trip was powerful in many ways, allowing space to clear the mind of everyday distractions and deepen our practice. more photos
Making your way through the Costa Rican rainforest is a great way to come into stillness in the midst of amazing beauty and the flow of life. This 2005 trip used Pura Vida Yoga Spa as a base camp for exploring some of the main attractions of this marvelous country and included twice daily mindful yoga classes. more photos
Relaxing day hikes and challenging multi-day backpacking excursions into the beautiful wilds of Alaska offer rich opportunies for developing mindful spaciousness. Our 2004 trip through Southcentral Alaska strengthened my confidence in the power of wilderness to deepen one's practice. photos
While backpacking along a narrow trail, one can easily enjoy mindful observation of the first foundation of mindfulness (the body). A heavy pack and a few thousand feet of elevation change in a day make the body somewhat difficult to ignore.
The Rainbow Bridge area in the desert of northeastern Arizona is an amazing place to practice mindfulness meditation. The subtle colors, the spring flowers, sleeping under huge rock formations under the stars, dharma talks in the cool outdoor stillness made this 2003 trip one to remember. While we still working out the details, I hope you will consider using the outfitter we used: Rainbow Expeditions. These guys do a magnificent job, attending to every detail. The food's great too!
Mindfulness practice takes on new meaning when you're coming through a Class III rapid. This scene is from a 2002 trip down the Chattoga River. A scene from our 2001 trip to Glacier National Park, Montana. Lots to be mindful of in this wonderfully wild country. More Photos
